I, James C. Wangerin, CPA, am admitted to represent any taxpayer in the United States before the Internal Revenue Service.
My CPA practice before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) involves representations of taxpayers regarding their rights, priviliges, and/or liabilities. Such representations include communicating with the IRS, rendering written advice, and representing clients at conferences, hearings and meetings. This includes representing taxpayers before the offices of collections and appeals.
In 2009, I have prepared income tax returns for 1,000 clients.
My tax practice has historically grown 20% each year. This growth is primarily a result of referrals.
I respond to the normal flow of audits for my clients.
However, the majority of my representation before the IRS comes in the form of representing taxpayers who had someone other than me prepare their return.
The first step is to prepare a proper return. This can resolve the dispute.
The second step is to cooperate by providing enough credible evidence that the burden of proof shifts from the taxpayer to the IRS. This can resolve the dispute.
The third step is to provide a statement of facts and legal positions. An informal telephone review of the auditor's findings with the auditor's supervisor. This can resolve the dispute.
In 2009, my office will spend over a 1,000 hours studying tax laws and responding to tax changes proposed by the IRS and enforced collection actions by the IRS. This allows us to quickly prepare a statement of facts and legal positions.
